The Ants Go Marching 2 by 2……

So, the other night I was sitting in my office, at the computer, really just goofing around, when all of a sudden I heard this awful noise.

I stopped what I was doing and listened.   There….I heard it again.  It sounded like my 6 year old daughter….in her bathroom….beating someone up.   Since this is not a noise I hear very often….I immediately run in there to see if there is any crazy stalker man in my bathroom with my kid!   I open the door and there is Lily with a shoe in her hand, going all Chuck Norris on these ants in her bathroom.  She looks at me….breathing in and out…her little chest going up and down like she just ran a marathon….and says… “Mom, we have to do something about these ants!”

Well I have had ants in the kitchen at different houses….but just in the bathroom….weird.  Maybe it is the crazy toothpaste my children like….who knows.

I talk to my husband to see if there is a better thing to use when dealing with ants.  He said, “Talk to my dad….I think he has a trick for them…something with oatmeal or grits” .  So, I get on my phone and text my Father In Law…..this is how the conversation went:
Via Text:
Me: Do you have a ‘get-rid-of-ant- trick’?
FIL: No….but I have a Uncle Nick…..(see he thinks he is funny just like my hubby does)
Me:  I did not respond
FIL: Came back with this:
Step One:  Go to store and get some grits in an oatmeal type container:
 

Step Two:  Poke holes in top to make a shaker



Step Three: Sprinkle around the room that you are getting ants in as well as around the outside of your house.  Do this once a month and you will be golden.  (His words…not mine)
Grits????   I had my doubts. 
So…..I thought what the heck….let’s buy some grits.
I did Step 1 and Step 2…..and well……my FIL was right…it worked!
The best part is if my son…who puts everything in his mouth….sees it on the floor…it won’t hurt him!  Next time you have ants….forget the Raid….and buy some Grits!!!!
