Texas Ink

This is Melissa reporting on location from my Mom and Dad’s house.  I had another blog topic planned but had to replace it to bring you this totally awesome tutorial that you are gonna want to do today!
First a little background, my sister and family went to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.  While there my niece got a totally cool glitter temporary tattoo.
Similar to this:

Cool Huh?  It was included in a package they got, but I looked online and the “artists” charge $4-15 per tattoo.
Of course my perfectly well behave children weren’t jealous at all. HA!  So Mama Bear studied it lon the net and decided she could do it.
All you need is :
  • Ultra Fine Glitter
  • Eyelash Adhesive
  • A stencil that has adhesive on it.
  • 2 paint brushes
  • Rubbing Alcohol (Pretend its in the picture I'm a dunce and forgot it!)

The Ultra Fine Glitter was a little pricey $9.99 but I used 40% off coupon so it wasn’t too bad and I could probably do 5000 ish tattoos with it.

These stencils looked perfect for the job, but they were entirely too big.  Luckily  I cut the swirly one and made it into a bracelet.  Remember I was at my parents so I didn’t have any of my crafty tool with me so I used what I could find.  When I get home I am going to use my Cricut to cut out the stencils.  Great Idea huh?
This stencil group cost $1.29 on clearance (yay!)

This was so cheap. Got it at the Dollar Tree a buck awesome!

Paint Brushes got those at Dollar Tree too! (Man I love that store!)
Step 1: Prepare the area you wish to  apply the tattoo.  Allow to dry.
Step 2: Apply the stencil to the area. (Thanks to my mom for modeling for me)

Make sure the stencil is pressed down securely.

Step 3: Apply the adhesive to the stencil.  (Be careful it is kinda  runny).

Step 4: Spread the adhesive with a brush.  Allow to dry. The area will be sticky and hold the glitter and won’t be soupy!DSC05723
I got a Styrofoam plate  to catch the excess glitter but there wasn’t much to catch!DSC05726
Step 5: Stick a brush into the glitter. It will look like there is not enough glitter on the brush but it will be ok.
DSC05727 The cool thing about this is that you can put as many colors as you want!  DSC05729  DSC05731
Even with the stencil still on  it is pretty.

I used my hand to clean off my brush!  DSC05735
Step 6:Gingerly  remove the stencil.
DSC05736 DSC05737 How cool is this?
DSC05738 Step 7:  Brush off extra glitter.

Step 8: Enjoy!
Hope you totally love this as much as I do! I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow and for our next birthday party!  I think it cost me about $0.45 a tattoo!
* These tattoos are waterproof and last approx. 3-10 days.
Today I am linking to these great ladies!

Have a Happy St Patrick's Day!
