Curly Sue

 

I have straighter than straight hair.  I have always been envious of those naturally curly hair girls.  I also know that those same girls 90% of them time, will tell you that you can have their curls!  Something that us straight hair women find crazy!

 

When I was little, I would beg my mom to curl my hair.  So after I would take an evening bath and I was in my pj’s, my mom would comb my hair, and then proceed to put those awful, pink, sponge rollers in there!!  You know the ones….

 

I remember they were fine and dandy….until you had to go to sleep.  They advertised them as soft….easy to sleep with….but they were not!   I used to lay in bed and try my hardest to find a comfortable position….but alas….it never worked.   But…oh…to wake up and have my hair curly….just like I wanted it to be…was oh, so worth it!

My own daughter loves to get her hair curled.  But the one time she did let me roll her hair in those wonderful pink rollers…she insisted that they immediately come out!   She was one that was not going to suffer for beauty!

Then my fellow dream girl, Melissa, introduced me to the following!

Conair Pillow Soft Rollers….

These things are wonderful!!!  They are wrapped entirely out of soft material.    The middle part is sponge…..and the two ends are wire.   All you have to do is wrap the hair up in it like normal…and then twist the wire together like twist ties….and there you have it!   They are actually super soft….and to have my 6 year old sleep in them, not once, but multiple times….I call that a success!  They are also available in any local drug store for under $10!

My daughter has inherited my hair.  Super straight and super fine.  I have used the curlers  two different ways in her hair.  The first way was to use the curlers in dry hair with some styling gel….this was the finished look:

Which I LOVED!

The second way was to roll her hair when it was wet….

This way made the hair have super tight and bouncy curls.  She didn’t even look like the same kid.

 

I hope this helps all of you that have straight hair girls….that want some curl….but not the pain!
